With S6 school days coming to an end, the Charities Group have organised a ball for a send off with style! The school colours will be adorning the hall with a theme of ‘School Life’ to remind the sixth years of their time at Bell Baxter. The promise of a catered buffet, thanks to the talents of local caterer Monica Henderson, will provide the night with sophistication and glamour; not to mention the fabulous dresses and outfits that will give us a glamorous finish to a memorable six years.
With two school bands playing, the idea of school spirit will be carried through the music. A ceilidh band and ‘Fife Schools Rock Band Competition’ finalists Urban City Lights are providing a great soundtrack to the night.
A raffle will showcase some fabulous prizes such as a hamper from Fisher and Donaldson and vouchers for a spa treatment.
The ball will also be benefiting Ninewells hospital’s ICU, in memory of drama teacher Ms Jane Baikie, All proceeds will go to this worthwhile cause.
The night promises to be great fun for all attending!
Our Under 18 rugby 7’s team competed on Saturday in the Scottish Schools’ Rugby 7’s competition at Murrayfield and have brought the cup back to Bell Baxter for the second consecutive year. Over 50 schools took part from all over Scotland in fast paced matches in the competition sponsored by John Lewis, and supported by the Royal Navy.
The boys eventually met Galashiels Academy in the final and beat them convincingly 31- 5 in front of a large crowd. Competing as defending champions and with the pressure of the success of lasts year’s team, the boys’ victory is an outstanding achievement and everyone at Bell Baxter is proud.
Congratulations to the team - Ross Aitken(Capt), Michael Fedo, Rory Drummond, William Wardlaw, Chris Martin, Andrew Young, Joe Barker, Michael Brooks, Conar Dow and Murray Calcutt.
Here’s to next year’s success!
It’s been a busy year here at the publicity team, and we hope that we have managed to provide you with all the news, events and goings-on around the school that you could ever have hoped for.
Sadly though, its time for us to hand over the reins to a new group of fresh faced, budding school journalists, who will continue to provide you with the diary you know and love. So, from all of us here at the team -Tom Deas, Katiuscia Alfano, Rebecca Gatherum, Sarah Mackie, Jenny Macfarlane and Victoria Pease, best wishes to all our readers, it’s been a ball!
We would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Mrs Martin for all her help throughout. We will miss her. Mrs Martin replies-“You’ve been a great team. Best wishes.”
Congratulations to S3 pupil Francesca Hill who won £250 worth of book vouchers for the school courtesy of The Bank of Scotland. The competition was run by The Bank of Scotland in conjunction with Scottish Ballet, who were performing their version of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty in Edinburgh in January.
The competition was design the perfect bed for Sleeping Beauty and Francesca won the under 16 category. The entries had to contain a description of why their bed would be perfect. Francesca comments “I got my inspiration for the design of my Sleeping Beauty bed from the rose in the ballet programme”. “I'm really pleased I have won”.
Well done Francesca!
